About the Artwork
The Camp and Its Mountain, Up Close
A grey mountain peak looms over a yurt camp at Song-Kul, pulled in close with a long lens so every fold of rock shows. The camp is set up for the summer on the pastures around the lake, with the Kyrgyz flag flying between the yurts.
The yurts sit in a neat line below the mountain, the flag and a tall wooden frame standing between them, while the soft, out-of-focus grass in front adds depth. Taken from the same spot as our wider camp print, this telephoto version puts the mountain centre stage.
Moss green, slate grey and white keep it calm, so it works behind a desk or in a bedroom, and the strong subject holds up at smaller sizes. Printed on premium lustre paper from A5 up to A2.
