About the Artwork
Drowned Spruce in Turquoise Water
Seen from directly above, Lake Kaindy turns into something close to an abstract painting. A handful of bare trunks rise straight through deep turquoise water. Around their bases, drowned branches spread in pale green tangles just under the surface.
Lake Kaindy lies in Kolsai Lakes National Park in southern Kazakhstan, high in the Tian Shan. For the whole lake and gorge, see our Lake Kaindy in autumn print.
