About the Artwork
A Yurt with a Bright Red Door
A single red door is the only colour on this yurt at Song-Kul, high in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Each summer, herding families set up camps like this around the lake and live in them until the cold returns.
Shot from just below a low rise, the foreground softens away and the yurt sits against an almost white sky. Grey and off-white panels, criss-crossed with ropes, give the roof its texture, and a short stovepipe pokes out on the right.
A minimalist travel photograph with a strong graphic feel. Pale greys and one block of red make it an easy accent for a neutral hallway, kitchen or home office, and it works as well at A4 as at A2. A good pick for anyone who has slept in a yurt in Kyrgyzstan. Printed on premium lustre paper.
